It’s Not About You with Sarah Beckman

What do you do when your friend’s son commit’s suicide?  How do you come alongside someone just found out they have cancer?  What do you do or say in the shadow of tragedy?

Sarah Beckman drew on her experiences as both the eager friend and the sufferer to write her book Alongside.  Ironically, one of the biggest take aways is understanding that it is not about you.  You can help but you can also cause more harm than good.  Her book is not just a testament but a guide with real time practical standards to use as barometers for stepping into the world of other’s suffering.   This book gives all who read it a fighting chance to truly come alongside and help, not hinder, those lost in a sea of misery and chaos.  Join us as we dive deeper and further into what it means to come Alongside those in need.

Melissa Monte embodies resilience and the attitude needed to both face suffering and overcome it. She honestly talks about the many experiences such as sexual abuse, eating disorders and the loss of loved ones that have the capacity to cripple people. However, Melissa pushes back and uses them as stepping stones to being a light in this world.

She also hosts a podcast called Mind Love which is excellent and worth your time!
